About GDRSC

GDRSC is an academic research center at Sana’a University. It was established in 1993 as an “academic unit of the Social Science Department” at the Faculty of Arts. Then the unit became a center for “Applied Research and Feminist Studies” in 1997 by the decision of the Head of the University No. 501. In 2000, the center’s name was changed to “Women’s Studies Center” by the decision of the University presidency No. 30, after that the name changed again in 2005 by the decision of the University Presidency No. 623 to become the “Gender Research and Development Studies Center”, and in the same year the name was modified to become “Gender-Development Research and Study Center” by the decision of the University Presidency No. 775.

The center looks forward to leading the academic and research and applied programs in gender and sustainable development at the national and regional levels.

Mission

The GDRSC is an academic research center, specialized in development, gender, research and peace in Yemen. It seeks to provide specialized academic and applied educational programs, studies and researchers, capacity building and institutional & research consultancy.

What Sets GDRSC Apart?

    1. GDRSC is considered the first academic research center specialized in gender and international development at the regional level.
    2. GDRSC is associated with local, regional and international universities in the preparation of modern academic programs and the implementation of joint studies.
    3. GDRSC has specialized library in the field of gender,international development, and peace.It  is considered as the first library in Yemen in gender and development. See webopac.gdrsc.net
    4. GDRSC has an extensive database of academics, researchers, consultants and trainers from all Yemeni public and private universities and other research centers throughout Yemen.
    5. The GDRSC definitely accepts all students from all academic majors.
